Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 1, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains what information The Rent Receipts (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use this site, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We collect as little as possible and delete verification documents quickly.

1. What We Collect

When you submit a review

  • Name — your first and last name, used for verification only. Never published.
  • Email address or phone number — so we can notify you when your review is approved or declined. Never published.
  • Verification document — a document proving you paid rent at the property. Used only to verify your tenancy, then permanently deleted within 5 days of upload.
  • Property address and landlord name — to associate your review with the correct landlord profile.
  • Review content — your ratings and written review. This is published anonymously on the platform.

When you browse the site

  • IP address and browser information — standard server logs collected automatically. Used for security and to diagnose technical issues.
  • Facebook Pixel — this site uses the Meta/Facebook Pixel (ID: 1299562698687961) for analytics and advertising. The Pixel collects data about page visits and may set cookies on your device. See Meta’s Privacy Policy for details on how Meta uses this data.

Cookies

We use a single session cookie for admin users only. Regular visitors receive no session cookies from us directly. The Facebook Pixel may set third-party cookies as described above.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To verify that you are a real tenant at the property you are reviewing.
  • To notify you when your review is approved or declined.
  • To publish your review anonymously — your name and contact details are never shown publicly.
  • To maintain the security and integrity of the platform.
  • To understand how the site is being used (via Facebook Pixel analytics).

We do not use your information to build user profiles, sell advertising targeted to you, or contact you for any purpose other than your review submission.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share it only with the following service providers, and only as needed to operate the platform:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS S3) — temporary, encrypted storage for uploaded verification documents. Documents are deleted within 5 days.
  • Resend — our email provider, used to send you notifications about your review submission.
  • Meta (Facebook Pixel) — receives page-visit analytics data as described in Section 1.
  • Vercel — our hosting provider, which processes all web traffic as part of serving the site.

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the public.

4. Data Retention

  • Verification documents — permanently deleted within 5 days of upload.
  • Name, email, and phone number — retained for a reasonable period to handle disputes or appeals related to your review, then deleted.
  • Published review content — retained indefinitely as part of the public record, but published without any personally identifying information.
  • Server logs — retained for standard operational periods (typically 30–90 days).

5. Your Rights

You may contact us at any time to:

  • Request deletion of your name, email, or phone number from our records.
  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Request correction of inaccurate information.

To exercise these rights, email us at Garrettdonaldsonii@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

California residents (CCPA): [UNKNOWN: We have not yet completed a formal CCPA compliance review. If you are a California resident and have questions about your rights under the CCPA, please contact us at the email above.]

6. Data Security

Uploaded documents are stored with encryption on AWS S3 and are accessible only to our verification team. All data is transmitted over HTTPS. No security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

7. Children

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
